SKU Best Practices

Creating Effective SKUs
Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) should be unique, meaningful, and consistent across your inventory. Good SKUs help with organization, searching, and inventory management.
✅ Good SKU Examples
• SHIRT-BLU-MED-CTN (Category-Color-Size-Material)
• LAP-HP-15-I7-512 (Type-Brand-Screen-CPU-Storage)
• OFF-PEN-BLK-BIC (Category-Type-Color-Brand)
❌ Avoid These Patterns
• Random numbers: 123456789
• Special characters: ITEM#1@!
• Spaces: "Blue Shirt Medium"

Troubleshooting

Each SKU must be unique across your entire inventory system.
• Check if the SKU already exists in the system
• Use the search function to find existing items
• Modify the SKU to make it unique
• Consider using variant suffixes (-001, -002)
Search indexes may take time to update or items may be inactive.
• Check if the item status is "Active"
• Try searching by different criteria (name, SKU, description)
• Refresh the page and try again
• Verify you have permission to view the item
Import data must meet specific format and validation requirements.
• Download and use the provided CSV template
• Check for required fields that are missing
• Ensure SKUs are unique within the import file
• Verify data types match expected formats
